  • Global Issues Network (GIN) Conference and teacher workshop (Jakarta, Indonesia 2014): a platform for students to recognize their roles as global citizens through knowledge enrichment, communication, and collaboration with their counterparts.
  • CIS/WASC Accreditation Planning and Implementation (Jakarta, Indonesia 2013-14): Maths vertical committee co-chair, examining, collecting, and collating data about the  PK-12 maths program at JIS.
  • Feedback: The Essential Learning Tool (Bambi Betts, Jakarta, Indonesia 2013): focusing on the feedback loops of a school ~ the research and practicalities on improving one of the core tools of our profession.
  • SENIA Conference (Jakarta, Indonesia 2013): SENIA is a network of educators, professionals and parents across Asia dedicated to supporting children with special learning needs.
  • K12 Learning 2.0: Tools for 21st Century Teaching & Learning (Mumbai, India, 2010): An online exploration of “exciting, emerging Web technologies available to support professional, personal and classroom learning in the 21st Century.”
  • ASB Unplugged Conference (Mumbai, India 2008, 2010): our one-to-one laptop school hosts this conference every two years, exploring and expanding the limits of best practice in technology-rich school environments.
  • AERO Standards (Mumbai, India 2009): math department-level work aligning assessment with curriculum in conjunction with the Department of Overseas School’s Erma Anderson.
  • NESA Conference (Cairo, Egypt, April 2009): various workshops addressing international education, mathematics, and brain function.
  • Assessment by Design (Mumbai, India 2008): School-wide assessment work with Damian Cooper.
  • 6+1 Traits writing (Mumbai, India 2007): Initiating work with and support for the 6 +1 Traits program, our school year started off with training led by Fred Wolff.
  • Principals’ Training Center (Miami, FL, June 2006): Leadership and Group Dynamics. Professional training for international administrators, focused on exploring essential leadership skills and team processes. Topics included situational leadership, group dynamics, and crisis/conflict management.
  • Middle Years Program (Belgrade, Serbia, 2003-2006): School Authorization. Ongoing training by IBO facilitators as our school prepared for simultaneous application to become PYP, MYP, and DP authorized.
  • CEESA Conference (Zagreb, Croatia, March 2005): various workshops including school security, mathematics enrichment, and technology integration.
  • Middle Years Program (Marrakech, Morocco, September, 2003): Mathematics. Four day training in implementation of the mathematics program in an new MYP school.
  • Advanced Placement (St. Paul, MN, summers 2001, 2002): AP Psychology. Training and summer conference.
  • Middle Years Program (San Pedro Sula, Honduras, January, 2001): Introduction to the courses, philosophy, and assessment of the MYP. Affiliated with the International Baccalaureate, the MYP provides a rigorous academic preparation for students aged 11-16.
  • Kenosha Unified School District Inservices (Fall, 1999):Dimensions of Learning Overview, Teaching Our Most Challenging
  • Connected Classroom (Chicago, IL, 1999, 2000): Conference for technology and curriculum integration. Educators and experts demonstrated how to integrate online resources and technologies into classroom instruction. Included practical presentations from classroom teachers, resources, and keynote speakers.
  • Chiwaukee Academy (Kenosha, WI, 1998): Authentic Assessment in the Classroom. Designing and integrating authentic assessments as an alternative to traditional testing procedures. Using hands-on activities to accommodate students’ differing needs. Constructing rubrics to clearly illustrate students’ achievements and challenges.
  • True Colors (Ann Arbor, MI, 1997): Resource materials and products supporting a human relations model and tool that incorporates simple techniques developed from research on motivational characteristics intrinsic to each individual. Techniques based on the work of Dr. Carl Jung, Isabel Briggs-Meyers, David Keirsey and Don Lowry.
  • Learning Styles (Tegucigalpa, Honduras, 1993): A comprehensive approach to the diagnosis of an individual’s learning style. Responds to the individualized needs of students by addressing positive interaction with students’ immediate environment, emotionality, sociological needs, and physical needs, best affording students the opportunity to achieve at their potential.
